Cheerleaders 2017-2018

"Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens.  This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live."  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Thanks to everyone trying out for cheerleader. You are to be commended for going through the process and your willingness to represent our school. Results will be posted after school on Friday the 24th, about 3:30.

The coaches will be prayerfully considering and reaching these decisions together. We will be placing you on squads as it best serves our objectives for cheerleading at Lipscomb Academy. The coaches want to have two quality squads, football and basketball for varsity and middle school, and we will place individuals as we think best in order to achieve that goal. For that reason, we have asked you to rate both football and basketball unless you are in a conflicting Lipscomb Academy sport.  Please realize that some good cheerleaders will not make their first choice. We consider individual cheer abilities, including jumps, motion technique, dance timing and execution, enthusiasm, work ethic, ability to work well with others, stunting abilities, as well as organizational/dependability skills. Stunt positions are a large part of squad placement. Each coach is looking for specific things that best suit each squad, basketball, football, and competition. Some girls may make multiple squads, while others may not be selected for any squad. To those of you who make one of the squads, please be thoughtful of those who were not selected for a squad. Treat them the way you would want to be treated if the situation was reversed. Good luck and GO LA!  If you are selected for one of our squads, plan to stay after school on April 5 for a fitting appointment for cheer attire (room 139.)  If you are selected for varsity football or basketball, please meet in room 139 at 7:10 on March 31st.

The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.
